The town itself has a good range of shops and services including a health centre as well as a primary school, Academy and University of Highlands and Islands facility including courses for golf and also catering management. For a more comprehensive range of shops and services, Inverness is only 42 miles away. There is a train station in Tain and mainline services run daily from Inverness to London and the South.
Dornoch Castle Hotel is ideally situated in the centre of the town, directly opposite the well known cathedral and in walking distance from the The Royal Dornoch Championship Golf Course, which attracts thousands of golfers from around the world.

Dornoch Castle Hotel is constructed of stone and slate with a more modern extension at the rear. Particular features of the castle are a 5-storey tower at the south west side and large chimney dating from the 1500s on the south side. The castle became a hotel in 1947 and great care has been taken to preserve the historic character of the building. The current owners are only the 3rd since 1947. This property is listed Grade B by Historic Scotland and lies within a conservation area.
Our clients have owned the hotel since 2000 and have restored this historic building to its former glory. The business has a reputation for quality of hospitality and friendly professional service. Given the proximity to Royal Dornoch Golf Course the hotel continues to attract worldwide clientele attracted by playing one of the world’s top golf courses. The local area is ever popular with tourists and outdoor enthusiasts. The hotel is also sought after as a wedding venue and there is capacity for up to 180 guests with the use of a marquee in the walled garden.
